| Description | We, members of the National Coalition on Mining (NCOM) from Concerned Citizens Association of Prestea, Prestea; Kenyasi Community; Third World Network-Africa; The African Challenge; Integrated Social Development Centre; Green Ghana Initiative, Obuasi; Bogoso-Dumasi Community; Concerned Citizens of Sefwi; Aboduabo Community; Awaso Community; Jomoro Community; Centre for Public Interets Law; Youth and Concerned Citizens of Teleku-Bukaazo; Bontefufuo Development Community; Environment Care Group Kindoma; Livelihood & Environment Ghana, Kenyasi; Akyem Farmers Development Committee, Birim North; and Bibiani Farmers Society, Bibiani held its normal meeting and training workshop from September 22nd to 23rd, 2010 in Accra Ghana. 2.0 Issues The meeting reviewed and discussed: • Issues in the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006, (Act 703) which give cause for social conflicts and human rights violations. • Sources of mineral revenue, in particular mineral royalty • Compensation and negotiation • Gender and extractives the case of Ghana’s oil and women issues • Strategies and the role of NCOM in the current process of reform of the Minerals and Mining Act 2006, (Act 703). |
